#DisabledNotDiscarded

Disabled people are people too. We deserve safe housing, meaningful work, access to our communities, and systems that do more than keep us barely alive.

What is #DisabledNotDiscarded?

#DisabledNotDiscarded is Kerry Williams’s disability-advocacy project, born from a housing emergency and a much larger truth: disabled people are routinely asked to survive systems that were never designed to let us live safely, work sustainably, or build a future.

The project documents what happens when housing programs, benefits systems, local government, and supposed support structures keep referring a disabled person elsewhere instead of solving the problem in front of them.

Why it belongs here

Electric Sugar Co.™ and #DisabledNotDiscarded are connected. Kerry is building a home-based micro-bakery because disability makes a conventional workplace unsafe and unsustainable. A home kitchen allows her to work barefoot to sense the floor, rest when Parkinson’s requires it, avoid exhausting travel, and build a schedule around what her body can actually do.

This is not a pity story or a triumph-over-adversity story. It is a business being designed honestly—and an argument that disabled people deserve practical paths to independence.

Follow the work

Kerry publishes letters, videos, research, and updates about disability, housing, work, and the systems that connect them. Follow the continuing campaign and help make sure disabled people are seen, heard, and not discarded.

I do not want to be inspirational for surviving what should have been fixed. I want the systems fixed.
